British Lord and Two MPs Visit Sylhet Kidney Foundation Hospital

Staff Reporter, Sylhet : Lord Qurban Hussain (member of the British House of Lords) and British MPs Afsana Begum and Shaukat Adam visited the Sylhet Kidney Foundation Hospital.

During their visit on Friday afternoon, they observed the actual state of patient care and the medical procedures in place. They were impressed by the hospital’s modern environment, advanced infrastructure, and quality medical services. After touring various departments, they praised the standard of dialysis services.

They also spoke with admitted patients to inquire about their treatment. NRB Coordinator and Trustee Zia Islam briefed the British delegation on the hospital’s overall operations.

Speaking at a discussion meeting held after the visit, Afsana Begum, MP for Poplar and Limehouse, stated that the Sylhet Kidney Foundation Hospital is not merely a dialysis center; it is a vital institution offering compassionate medical care, empathy, and hope to kidney patients. She remarked that the initiative to provide patient care in a modern setting and stand by the underprivileged is truly commendable, noting that such institutions play a crucial role in saving lives.

Also present at the meeting were Kidney Foundation Trustee Dr. Mostafa Shahjamal Chowdhury Bahar, Trustee Dr. Nazra Chowdhury, Director and Treasurer Zubayer Ahmed Chowdhury, Executive Director Dr. Kazi Mushfiq Ahmed, Additional Director (Welfare and Services) Farida Nasrin, Additional Director (Finance and Accounts) Md. Ma’ay Reza Chowdhury, Dilip Kumar Pal, and Administration and HR Manager Md. Mohibur Rahman Russel, along with other hospital officials.

Hospital authorities stated that the visit by the British Lord and the two MPs has further highlighted the quality of medical services, humanitarian initiatives, and future potential of the Sylhet Kidney Foundation Hospital. They expressed hope that this visit would play a significant role in strengthening the institution’s ties with the Bangladeshi diaspora in the UK and with international guests.
