Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called for people of all faiths to work together to build Bangladesh, drawing parallels with the unity among religious communities during the country’s Liberation War.
Speaking at a roadside rally in Paglapir, Rangpur, on Tuesday, the prime minister said he wanted to build the country by bringing people of all religions together, just as they had united to fight for independence.
He said the government was trying to stand beside every working person and urged citizens to renew their commitment to building Bangladesh collectively.
“On the biggest festival of the Sanatan community, let us all pledge to build Bangladesh together — Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists and Christians.”
The prime minister also stressed that hard work was essential to moving the country forward.
As part of his tour programme, Tarique Rahman is scheduled to visit the puja mandap at Dharmasabha Temple in Rajshahi around noon. In the afternoon, he will attend a public rally at the Haji Muhammad Mohsin Government High School ground.
He is then scheduled to fly to Chattogram, where he will visit the puja mandap at JM Sen Hall in Rahmatganj in the evening before returning to Dhaka later at night.
