The pro-SUST BCL leaders and activists on Monday came back on the campus after a bloody clash on November 20 last year.
The opponent faction of BCL also brought out a procession on the campus protesting against their comeback. Observers now fear of further violence as the factions of BCL have faced off again that created a tense situation here.
Sources said some 40 to 50 leaders and activists of pro-BCL committee came back on the campus in the morning and urged the authority to give them permission to take them back in their dorms.
Although their opposite faction brought out a protest rally violating the SUST authority’s ban on political activities on the campus the pro-committee leaders along with their followers entered their halls with the help of the authority at 3:00pm.
Extra police forces were deployed on the campus and halls to keep the situation under control. In this connection, SUST VC Prof Aminul Haque Bhuyan said students had been asked to obey the varsity’s rules or stern actions will be taken against them.
