Senior Judicial Magistrate court of Habigonj on Thursday upheld an arrest warrant against BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman in a mudslinging case filed for his derogatory remarks against Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman after he failed to appear before it. Nishat Sultana, Senior Judicial Magistrate, passed the order around 12:30pm.
According to the local source, Tarique delivered disparaging speeches about Bangabandhu at a conference in London.
Mahibur Rahman Mahi, Organizing Secretary of district unit Chhatra League, filed a derogatory case of 1 thousand crore taka in the court on February 22 this year. Tarique did not appear though the court summoned him before for this case. Advocate Sultan Mahmood and Azizur Rahman Sajal are conducting the case for the plaintiff and Advocate Manjur Ahmed Shahin and Muddat Ali for the accused.
