Dhaka, July 30 : In an effort to help the community with aid and recovery, Facebook has contributed $2.5 lakh to Save the Children to help children and their families in Bangladesh affected by flood and destruction caused by monsoon rains.
“After heavy monsoon waters spread across Bangladesh in mid-June, threatening hundreds of thousands of refugees, the community activated Safety Check and turned to Crisis Response to ask for and request help,” said a press release on Monday.
It said the donation will also go towards providing emergency aid, food, water, and sanitation to help people through the storms in coming months.
“The monsoon season in Bangladesh is putting hundreds of thousands of people at risk and we must do everything we can to keep children protected and safe during this time. Save the Children is hugely grateful to Facebook for its commitment to help families after previous floods in Asia and again this year.” said Carolyn Miles, President and CEO of Save the Children.
