Ramadan charity event Celebration of Love, Peace & Harmony

A charity event during Ramadan, titled “Celebration of Love, Peace & Harmony” was held on Saturday 25th May at Beech Grove, Hainault, Ilford.

The organiser of the event Pushpita Gupta of Secular Bangladesh Movement UK (SBMUK) said, ‘The recent attacks in New Zealand and Sri Lanka is driving divisions in the community. Which makes it even more important that we stand together to fight the atrocities committed by these criminals that hide behind their depraved ideologies.’ We aim to continue to defend minorities and the poor against sectarian violence. Please support our work.’ She added.

The event provided Iftar for Muslims in addition to dinner for guests. Leaders from various community talked about the importance of harmony to oppose extremism. Leader of Redbridge Council Cllr Jas Athwal, Councillor Rosa Gomez, Councillor Shamsia Ali, Laura Brooks, Patrick Brooks, Mahmud A Rauf, Ansar Ahmed Ullah, Meera Vegal, Manash chowdhury, Hamida Maya Rahman and Ujitha de Zoysa spoke at the event conducted by ten year old Anvita Gupta Putu. In attendance were Freedom Fighter Engr Mefta Islam, Rita Dey, Lipi Haldar, Adhir Das, Shuman Khan, Sushanta Das Gupta , Shahab Chanchal, Gin Gupta, Seno Rita Bonita, Rupa Chowdhury, Mitaly Dhar, Laboni Barua, Raaj Dutt, Sinthia Das & Adhir Ranjan Das amongst many others who attended as guests.

There was sari & jewellery Stalls too. All funds raised will be used to continue the projects of Secular Bangladesh Movement UK (SBMUK). The evening was sponsored by Engr Mefta IslamSeno Rita Bonita, Biswajit and Russel Ahmed.
