Global warming is taking its toll

Afridi Raihan:

Most people think that climate change is something that warms up the earth but that is not the case, if you really think about it, climate change literally just means a change in climate, either hot or cold. An example of this is when we had the ice age around 2.7 million years ago and it only finished around 11 million years ago. At this time during the earths life the animals were adapted but had the harshest living conditions the herbivores would not have had a lot of food since the glaciers would mostly cover everything also most of them aren’t tall enough to reach free trees, due to this the carnivores (animals that only eat meat like the sabre-toothed cat) will have less food since the deer’s, mammoths, horses, mastodons and muskox will have no food and will become frail and will have no meat for the carnivores to eat which means no energy and protein.

But we do not have to worry about this since there is no way in this point in time that we will have another ice age we are suffering from a ‘heatwave. So, you might not know what is going on, most people know that the earth is getting warmer, but it is because of us, HUMANS. We are causing our own death; humans are making the planet end and humans will go extinct if we don’t do something about it. Scientifically what is going on is the earth is getting polluted by us and these gases (the noble gases) are building up in the atmosphere and making it so that sunlight comes in as heat and light energy but then most of it can’t get back out because all the noble gases are blocking the suns light and heat energy. This is called the greenhouse effect the earth also does this on its own but because of the pollution the earth is getting roasted.

Think about it as a car in the sun on a hot day. If u leave it there with the windows and doors closed, then it will get extremely hot inside because the heat can’t get out. That is why it is illegal to leave your dog inside your car on a hot day it will die. So, thinking about this, a car gets hot quickly so will the earth if we leave it to be. Scientists have said that we only have 20-30 years before we start feeling the effects of global warming. There are many easy ways to help prevent global warming getting worse extremely fast, but the thing is that it isn’t only humans that are struggling from the effects of global warming, so are animals.

Let’s look at the bear for example they live in the icy conditions of the north pole and the neighbouring countries (Canada, Russia, the United States (in Alaska), Greenland and Norway) so if the world warms up to much the ice that they eat, sleep and breed on will be gone. This will be a great struggle for them, although they know how to swim they aren’t adapted to swim for an extended amount if they do then they will lose weight and tire this will make them hungrier but they will not be able to eat since there will be no ice for them to relax on.

So, we must start doing something about it and fast, there are some things that anyone can do easily for example, eating less meat makes it better. This is because cows’ farts are bad for the atmosphere, since they only eat grass the amounts of methane, they produce is dangerous and now imagine how many cows there are. If u eat less meat, we will no longer have to breed so many cows, therefore less farts. Another way to help is to reduce your carbon footprint. You can do this by going less on plane holidays planes are extremely bad they produce a lot of carbon, drive less. These things don’t mean you can’t travel to go on holiday you can use a under sea train also use a bus rather than a car, think if you go by car only max 7 people will travel but on a bus over 50 people can go somewhere with the same amount of fuel.

So next time you go out think about how u travel. So now you know about global warming. Therefore, you should be able to make a change. Make a change for Global warming building a better tomorrow.
