BNP expels two more leaders for breaching party discipline

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has expelled its two leaders for their alleged involvement in anti-organisational activities.

The expelled leaders are Matiur Rahman Montu, a BNP national executive committee member and former General Secretary of Rajshahi District BNP, and Dewan Nazim Uddin Manju, president of Dhaka Dhamrai Municipality unit BNP.

The party informed this through a press statement, signed by its co-office secretary Muhammad Munir Hossain, on Friday.

The circular stated that Montu and Manju have been expelled from all positions, including primary membership of the party, based on specific allegations of involvement in activities against party discipline.

Matiur Rahman Montu, earlier, left BNP to join the Bangladesh Nationalist Movement (BNM), where he now holds the position of central vice chairman. He also declared his candidacy for the national elections from Rajshahi-3 (Paba-Mohanpur) constituency.

Earlier, BNP has expelled its national executive committee members Advocate Khandaker Ahsan Habib and Barrister Fakrul Islam from all positions including primary membership of the party based on specific allegations of involvement in activities against party discipline.

On November 15, the two expelled leaders announced their intention to participate in the upcoming 12th National Parliament elections under the banner of ‘Swatantra Gonotantra Manch’. In the evening BNP expelled the leaders.
