16 injured from dog bites in Sreemangal

At least 16 people were injured in three days after being bitten by dogs in Moulvibazar’s Sreemangal upazila.

According to the emergency department of Sreemangal Upazila Health Complex, 16 people injured by dog bites have been treated. People who received treatment said that while walking on roads, mad dogs suddenly bit them.

Local social worker and businessman Mamun Ahmed said, ”Several pedestrians were injured by the bites of dogs. If these dogs are not killed these may bite more people. Everyone should be careful.”

Sreemangal Upazila Livestock Officer Dr Karan Chandra Mallik said, “After learning about the bite, we distributed awareness miking and leaflets in Sreemangal town. Besides, we have nothing else to do. But if cows, goats or other animals are bitten by dogs, we give vaccines.”

Sreemangal Upazila Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Sajjad Hossain Chowdhury said, ”I heard that some people were bitten by mad dogs in our upazila. We did not have the vaccine so they took the vaccine at Moulvibazar District Sadar Hospital. On Sunday afternoon, we are bringing the vaccine from the district.”
