A total of 178 trains will run everyday, increasing 26 as the metro rail is running every 8 minutes instead of 10 minutes.
MAN Siddique, managing director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), confirmed this on Saturday morning.
He said, “The number of metro rail trips increased to 26 and as a result, a total of 178 trains will run each day instead of 152.”
Now, commuters’ waiting time has decreased at every stations.
The new time was effective from this morning. Train will run every eight minutes during peak hours and every 10-12 minutes during off-peak hours.
A passenger named Ashiq Rahman said, “As the train runs every eight minutes, the pressure of the passengers has decreased a little bit and it’s a relief for people.”
As per the new schedule, from Uttara to Motijheel between 7:31am and 11:48pm and from Motijheel to Uttara between 8:01am and 12:08pm will be considered as peak hours.
Simultaneously, from Uttara to Motijheel between 3:13pm and 8:00pm and from Motijheel to Uttara between 3:53pm and 8:40pm will be considered peak hours.
Except Friday, metro rail runs everyday from 7:10am to 8:40pm on Uttara-Motijheel route.
