Two girls drown in Sylhet

Two children drowned in a pond in Sylhet’s Zakiganj upazila on Wednesday.

The incident took place in the afternoon at Gechhua village under Sultanapur union of the upazila.
The dead were Eva, 7, daughter of Gous Uddin, and Shova Akter, 8, daughter of Ikram Uddin, residents of that village.

Quoting locals, Officer-in-Charge of Zakiganj Police Station Sukanta Chowdhury said the two children went missing after going down to bathe in a pond next to their house.

Later, local people recovered their bodies from the water of the pond, he added.
