The Tigresses have suffered a huge 10 wickets defeat against India in the ongoing Women’s T20 Asia Cup semi final at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Friday.
After electing to bat first, Bangladesh womens’ managed to score only 80 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
The decision to bat first was quickly proved to be problematic as the batters started struggling to survive in the crease. They could not establish any significant partnerships after losing 5 wickets for just 33 runs.
The top order, including Dilara Akhtar, Murshida Khatun, Ishma Tanjim, Rumana Akhtar, Rabeya Khan, and Rita Moni, were failed to make an impact.
Captain Nigar Sultana and Swarna Akhtar made some resistance, putting together a 36-run partnership off 35 balls which help the team to post 80 as the target.
Nigar Sultana scored 32 off 51 balls before being dismissed for the first time in this year’s Asia Cup. Swarna Akhtar remained unbeaten with 19 runs off 18 balls.
Bangladesh’s innings concluded at 80 runs, with Renuka Singh and Radha Yadav each taking 3 wickets for India.
To get past the target, Indian openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma were enough to clinch the victory in 11 overs only and entered the final with a thumping 10-wicket win.
Smriti Mandhana shine with 55 runs of 39 balls while Shafali Verma scored 26 from 28.
