Police have arrested four alleged smugglers and seized 40 cows while smuggling to Bangladesh through Someshwari River in Sunamganj district on Sunday.
Acting on a tip-off, a law enforcers team, led by Madhyanagar Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Sajib Rahman and the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Uzzal Roy, conducted a drive on the river ghat of Chamardani union on Sunday night, said police sources.
During the drive, law enforcers arrested the four individuals—Md Mahar Ali, 48, Aynal Hoque, 40, Md Dud Mia, 34, and Md Abdul Kalam, 58,– along with 40 cows, smuggled from India to Bangladesh, they said.
Later, the arrested were sent to court after filling a case with the same police station.
The sources further added that they will continue their drives in future to prevent the smuggling.
