January 26: The biennial executive council election of the London Bangla Press Club was held in a peaceful and festive atmosphere on January 25 at the Impression Venue in East London. The total number of voters was 335. Out of these, 325 votes were cast, which is 97 percent of the total votes. Of the 34 ballot papers applied for online, 31 were returned to the Election Commission. Two votes were declared invalid.

Tareq  Chowdhury was elected as president with 168 votes. His rival Sayeem Chowdhury got 155 votes.

Taysir Mahmud was elected as senior vice-president with 168 votes. His rival was Abdul Quayum, who got 151 votes. Independent candidate Ahad Chowdhury Babu was elected as vice-president with 172 votes. The nearest rival for this post was Rezaul Karim Mridha with 96 votes and Md. Sala Uddin Shahin got 51 votes.

Md. Akramul Hossain won the post of General Secretary with 164 votes. Saleh Ahmed got 158 ​​votes.

Abdul Qadir Chowdhury Murad was elected as Deputy General Secretary with 182 votes. His rival Zakir Hossain got 133 votes.

Md. Abul Hannan was elected as Treasurer with 198 votes. His rival Shahnaz Sultana got 124 votes.

Md. Ekhlasur Rahman Pakku was elected as Joint Treasurer with 177 votes. His rival Md. Ibrahim Khalil got 145 votes.

Alaur Rahman Khan Shahin was elected as Organizational and Training Secretary with 166 votes. His rival Afzal Hossain got 155 votes.

Faisal Mahmud won the post of Media and IT Secretary with 190 votes. His rival Md. Abdus Sattar Mishu got 130 votes.

Rupi Amin was elected as the Event and Facilities Secretary with 190 votes. His opponent Anisur Rahman Anis received 131 votes.

Md. Sarwar Hossain (201), Shahidur Rahman Sohel (189), Lokman Hossain Gazi (181), Farzana Chowdhury (161) and Enamul Haque Chowdhury (161) were elected to the 5 posts of executive members.

The other winning candidates for the member posts, who received how many votes, are Hasnat Chowdhury (148), Mohammad Saju Ahmed (130), Mohammad Abu Taleb (109), Fazle Rahman Pinak (97), and Sayeed Rahman (86).

31 candidates, including 30 candidates from two alliances and one independent candidate for the post of vice-president, contested the election for the 15-member committee of the Press Club. Among them, Tarek-Akram-Shahnaz Alliance won a majority of 8 posts including President, Senior Vice President, General Secretary, Organizational and Training Secretary, Media and IT Secretary, Event and Facilities Secretary and 2 executive member posts. The rival Sayem-Saleh-Hannan Alliance won a total of 6 posts including Treasurer,

Co-General Secretary, Co-Treasurer, 3 executive member posts. The only independent candidate for the post of Vice President was Ahad Chowdhury Babu. He was elected Vice President by getting 76 more votes than his nearest rival.

The highest voter in this election was Md. Sarwar Hossain of Sayem-Saleh-Hannan Alliance. He was re-elected as an executive member by getting 201 votes. Then Md. Abul Hannan of Sayem-Saleh-Hannan Alliance got the highest voter. He received 198 votes. He was elected treasurer by getting 74 more votes than his nearest rival Shahnaz Sultana. Hannan was the Media and IT Secretary for the past 4 years. This time, he was elected treasurer by getting the second highest number of votes. The third highest number of votes were received by Faisal Mahmud and Rupi Amin of Tareq-Akram-Shahnaz Alliance. Both of them got 190 votes. They were in the previous committee. Rupi was the Events and Facilities Secretary of the previous committee. This time, he was re-elected to this position. Faisal Mahmud was an executive member in the previous committee. This time, he was elected as the Media and IT Secretary. Shahidur Rahman Sohel also got good votes for the executive member post. He got 189 votes. He was elected to this post for the second time.

In this election, the Chief Election Commissioner was Mohammad Belayet Hossain, and the other two election commissioners were Shahgir Bakta Faruk and Sirajul Chowdhury Basit.
