First 13th JS session begins

The first session of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad began on Thursday, keeping the speaker’s chair vacant.

The session began at 11:05AM, with a recitation from the Holy Quran. The newly elected members of parliament are present there.

Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, a member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party Standing Committee and lawmaker elected from Cumilla-1 (Daudkandi–Meghna) constituency, is presiding over the session with the unanimous backing of other MPs.

The parliament is also expected to elect a new Speaker and Deputy Speaker during today’s sitting.

At about 10:55AM, the leader of the government Prime Minister Tarique Rahman entered the parliament session room. The MPs of the government and opposition congratulated him by banging on their tables loudly.

First time Tarique is entering the first session of parliament as an MP.
