
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB-55) seized Indian liquor and cannabis worth around Tk 1.7 lakh in separate anti-narcotics drives in Habiganj district.
Acting on a tip-off, a patrol team of BGB officials from Sindurkhan BOP conducted a drive in Sindurkhan tea garden area and recovered 36 bottles of Indian liquor.
On the same day, another patrol team from Satchhari BOP recovered 20 kilograms of Indian hemp during a drive in Satchhari area. In a separate drive on April 22, a patrol team from Montala BOP seized an additional 10 kilograms of hemp from Kamalpur area under Madhabpur upazila.
BGB officials said that a total of 129 kilograms of hemp, 48 bottles of liquor, 15 bottles of beer and 44 bottles of Eskuf syrup had been seized in drives conducted by BGB-55 so far this month.
The recovered contraband is being handed over to the district Department of Narcotics Control following legal procedures.
BGB said such drives will continue to prevent drug smuggling and ensure border security, urging cooperation from local residents.
