Negligence found in Ad‑Din Hospital newborn deaths

Serious negligence has been identified in the deaths of six newborns at the post‑operative ward of Ad‑Din Medical College Hospital in Dhaka’s Moghbazar, according to Zahid Raihan, Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

While speaking to the reporters on Friday morning, he said the investigation uncovered several irregularities, including structural flaws in the ward.

The probe committee formed by the government will submit its report on Saturday, he informed.

Earlier, a case was filed at Ramna Police Station over the incident, accusing hospital authorities of negligence leading to the deaths. The case was lodged Wednesday night by a relative of one of the deceased newborns.
