Hadi murder case : Probe report submission deferred to 28 June

A Dhaka court on Wednesday set 28 June for submitting the further probe report in the murder case of Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, marking the 16th deferment of submitting the report.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sefatullah set the new date after the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) failed to submit the report within the scheduled date.

On 12 December last year, Hadi, an independent candidate from the Dhaka-8 constituency, was shot in Dhaka’s Paltan area. He died on 18 December while receiving treatment in Singapore.

On 14 December, Abdullah Al Jaber, member secretary of Inqilab Moncho, filed an attempted murder case with Paltan Model Police Station over the incident which later turned into a murder case after the death of Hadi.

Later, on 6 January, DB Inspector Faisal Ahmed, the investigation officer in the case, submitted a chargesheet against 17 accused.

However, on 15 January, the plaintiff, filed a no-confidence (naraji) petition stating that the chargesheet skipped the main planners behind the killing. Subsequently, the court directed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to investigate the case.
