Health and Family Welfare Minister of Bangladesh, Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain, is set to inaugurate the first round of nationwide ‘Vitamin A Plus Campaign 2026’ on Sunday, June 27, 2026.

The inauguration ceremony will be held at 10:00am at the Shaheed Abu Sayed International Convention Center in Shahbagh.

According to the programme schedule released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the minister will attend the event as the chief guest and formally launch the nationwide campaign.

The campaign aims to provide Vitamin A capsules to eligible children across the country as part of the government’s efforts to prevent Vitamin A deficiency and improve child health, reports UNB.

Locals say that the attraction of this road will be its natural beauty. Along the entire route bordering Indian Meghalaya, there will be mountain ranges, clear water streams of the Piain and Dhalai rivers, and rural towns surrounded by greenery. On the way, a visitor will see the white-stoned river, the rocky water flow of Bichnakandi and the unique beauty of the Dauki River in Jaflong. The beauty of this road will increase further with mountain waterfalls and clouds during the monsoon.

Local public representatives and residents have also welcomed the project. Chairman of North Ronikhai Union Parishad No. 5 Md. Faizur Rahman said that if its implemented, the image of the rural villages along the border will change.

Ahmed Ali, BNP president of the same union, said that along with tourism, there will be positive changes in travel, business and trade and local market systems.

Individuals concerned with the district’s tourism said the new tourist road will not only make travel easier, but will also give a new impetus to the economy of the border area. They expect a rise in hotel, restaurants, boat operations, tourism services as well as small businesses.
