One killed, 20 injured in Habiganj road crash

Habiganj Correspondent : A head on collision between two busses left one driver dead and 20 passengers injured in Habiganj’s Bahubal upazila on Wednesday morning.

The accident occurred on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway near Dubai Bazar. Police could not identify the deceased at the scene.

According to police and local sources, when a Dhaka-bound bus belonging to Unique Paribahan reached the Dubai Bazar area, another bus coming from opposite direction, Lucky Paribahan, collided head on with it. The Unique Paribahan bus lost control and fell into a roadside ditch while Lucky Paribahan bus was severely damaged.

Driver of the Unique Paribahan died on spot. Critically injured driver of Lucky Paribahan and other 20 passengers were taken into nearby hospitals for treatment. The movement of vehicles on the highway have been suspended for an hour after the accident.

Officials from Shayestaganj Police Station and Bahubal Fire Service Department came to the spot and recovered the dead body of the bus driver.

Damaged Lucky Paribahan bus was removed from the highway to ease the traffic.

Shayestaganj Highway Police Station OC Ranjan Chakma confirmed the accident news and said that identity of the deceased is yet to confirm.
