Two journalists were killed in a road accident early Thursday after a bus hit their motorcycle in the capital’s Uttara area while they were returning home after watching the Argentina-England FIFA World Cup semifinal.
The accident occurred near the Jasim Uddin Bus Stand in Sector 3.
The deceased were identified as Rabiul Alam Raju, a journalist of Praner Bangladesh, and Sakibul Hasan, a journalist of Sangbad Diganta.
According to preliminary reports, the two were travelling on a motorcycle when they were hit by a bus between the Jasim Uddin intersection and the Rajlakshmi area in Uttara after watching the match.
They sustained critical injuries and were rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital, where doctors declared both dead.
Confirming the incident, Uttara West Police Station OC Mohammad Khalid Monsur said police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and working to identify the bus involved in the incident.
