President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged the Anti-Corruption Commission to bring corrupt people to book through neutral and proper investigation no matter how powerful they are.
The president made the call after an ACC delegation led by its Chairman Justice AKM Asaduzzaman paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban on Thursday, said a press release.
Other members of the team included: Commissioner (Investigation) Dr Jahangir Alam Khan, Commissioner (Investigation) Dr Md Sazzad Hossain Bhuiyan and ACC Secretary Md Saidur Rahman Khan.
During the meeting, the ACC delegation informed president about their overall activities and the challenges that they are facing in performing their duties.
The ACC delegation sought the president’s help to give their activities more momentum.
During the meeting, the president said, “Corruption has become Bangladesh’s top problem due to long time misrule, irregularities and a lack of accountability. The country’s future depends on curtailing and controlling corruption.”
During the meeting, the president promised to extend all types of help to ACC to fight corruption.
Secretaries of the president’s office were present during the meeting.
