Health minister orders show-cause notices for absent staff

Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain has ordered show-cause notices against doctors, nurses and health workers found absent from their workplaces without permission.

The minister monitored the attendance of healthcare workers at several upazila health complexes through the digital attendance system from his office at the ministry on Monday.

He checked attendance at health complexes in Bhurungamari in Kurigram, Belabo and Raipura in Narsingdi, Aditmari in Lalmonirhat, Lama in Bandarban and Dirai in Sunamganj.

During the monitoring, the minister noticed that some doctors, nurses and health workers were absent. He spoke to the civil surgeons and upazila health and family planning officers concerned and ordered them to issue show-cause notices to those absent without permission.

The minister said the presence of doctors, nurses and health workers at their workplaces was essential to ensuring healthcare services.

He said attendance monitoring would be strengthened to ensure that people received necessary services at health facilities in their respective areas. He also said he would regularly monitor the attendance of healthcare workers from his office.

Health Services Division Secretary Dr ANM Bazlur Rashid and Health Education and Family Welfare Division Secretary AKM Benjamin Riazi were present.
