The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has sent a letter to the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) seeking financial information and documents regarding former interim government adviser and National Citizen Party (NCP) spokesman Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain and his wife.
The anti-graft body requested the records to investigate allegations of land purchases, illicit asset accumulation, and money laundering across five countries, including Portugal, Australia, Dubai, Singapore, and Switzerland.
ACC Deputy Director Md Zahed Kalam, who serves as the inquiring officer, signed the letter sent to the BFIU.
A senior official of the commission confirmed the development on Thursday (September 17). Further details regarding the inquiry are awaited.
