Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman has said that Jamaat-e-Islami has accepted that its role and position during the 1971 Liberation War were not right.
Asaduzzaman made the remarks on Friday at a book launch ceremony written by lawyer Barrister Abdur Razzaq at a hotel in Gulshan, Dhaka.
The law minister said Barrister Razzaq’s proposal for Jamaat to apologise over its role in 1971 could have resolved many questions had the party accepted it.
He also said Abdur Razzaq remains relevant to the legal profession.
The law minister criticised the absence of Jamaat’s lawyers from the book launch ceremony.
Meanwhile, political scientist Dilara Chowdhury said there were many issues within Jamaat that needed reform.
