Shadow Youth Alliance was handed over New footballs plus £350 of other football equipment

New footballs plusNew footballs plus £350 of other football equipment was handed over to Salman Uddin and members of Bethnal Green based youth group, the Shadow Youth Alliance, by THCH resident and Committee member, Fred Hunt, on Friday, 13 February.

The haul, including 40 training tops, a dozen footballs, water bottles, training cones and other football goodies was due to a successful small grant bid submitted by the youth group and agreed by Bethnal Green residents, including Fred Hunt, at one of their regular area resident board meetings.

Based at the Minerva Community Centre in Bethnal Green the Shadow Youth Alliance run a number of football teams – from children’s to senior teams – and members of the  board agreed to the grant which will help ensure the group can continue to provide football training in the local area.

THCH’s Community Development Assistant, Abul Zahingir said “Our small grants are approved by residents and are a great way to support local groups and projects. In the last 12 months we have helped gardening clubs buy new equipment, supported a toddlers play group, a local film project, helped isolated older residents hold a Christmas party and funded an under 12s photography project”.
