Sylhet flood situation: SCC cancels holidays of all staff

A large swath of area in Sylhet city has been gone under water after water entered the low-lying areas. In such a situation, shelter centres have been opened at several wards of Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) on Monday.

SCC mayor Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury has visited shelter centres and flood affected wards.

As flood-like situation has appeared, the SCC authorities have cancelled holidays of its officials and employees at the departments concerned until further notice.

The mayor visited the shelter centres at Ward Nos. 26, 28, and 29 at about 1:00pm on Tuesday (June 18). At that time, he enquired about people taken shelters at the shelter centres and assured of extending all kinds of cooperation from the SCC. Local councilors were present at that time.
