Three houses gutted in Sylhet’s Fenchuganj fire

At least three homes were destroyed in a fire that broke out early Wednesday in Konar Bari area under Fenchuganj upazila in Sylhet district.

Sayed Hasan Shuvo, station officer at Fenchuganj Fire Service, said the fire started in one house around 1am and quickly spread to two neighboring homes.

Locals initially attempted to control the blaze but were unsuccessful and called the fire service. Two firefighting units responded and managed to extinguish the fire after about an hour of efforts.

While no casualties were reported, Shuvo said the fire is suspected to have originated from an electrical short circuit. The total extent of the damage will be determined after an investigation.
