Bangladesh today (5 October) recorded the highest number of dengue cases in a single day this year, with 1,042 people diagnosed in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
During the same 24-hour period, the disease claimed nine more people, the second-highest daily toll recorded this year.
With the new cases, the total number of dengue infections across the country has risen to 498,907 since January.
The latest fatalities pushed the nationwide death toll to 212 since January.
