Govt ready to ensure special security for Tarique: Home Adviser

The government is prepared to extend any necessary security support to BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said on Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting of the core committee on law and order at Secretariat, the adviser noted that the issue of Tarique Rahman’s possible return had not been discussed during the meeting.

When asked whether the Home Ministry had taken steps to ensure Tarique’s security, Chowdhury said, “We are ready for everyone. The Home Ministry is prepared to provide whatever special security arrangements are required.”

He also asserted that no individual in Bangladesh currently faces any security threat.
