IPL telecast banned in Bangladesh

The government has ordered television channels to suspend airing the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches, scheduled to start on March 26.

The decision was made after India forced Mustafizur Rahman to quit the IPL.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued the directive in official letters to television channels on Monday.

The letter contained, the decision follows the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) excluding Bangladesh star cricketer Mustafizur Rahman from the Kolkata Knight Riders squad for the upcoming IPL season.

No reasonable explanation has been provided for the Indian cricket board’s decision which has deeply hurt and angered the people of Bangladesh, it added.
