
A delegation of Commonwealth observers paid a courtesy call on Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman.
The meeting took place on Tuesday at the Army Headquarters, led by former President of Ghana, William Nana Akufo-Addo.
The information was shared last night on the verified Facebook page of the Bangladesh Army.
During the meeting, in addition to exchanging greetings, discussions were held on the overall security situation in the context of the upcoming election, as well as various issues related to the security of foreign observers.
Earlier on Monday, a delegation of the Commonwealth Observer Group also paid a courtesy call on Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.
The meeting was held at the State Guest House Jamuna and was attended by a 23-member delegation led by the Chair of the Commonwealth Observer Group and former President of Ghana.
Lamía Morshed, Principal Coordinator for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the Chief Adviser’s Office, and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were also present at the meeting.
Strict Measures in Rohingya Camps
In connection with the 13th parliamentary election, the Bangladesh Army, leading a joint force, has taken a strict stance to prevent any acts of sabotage or violence involving the hiring of Rohingyas.
Starting today (Wednesday), one day before the voting, movement of Rohingyas residing in the camps has been suspended. The Army has already begun monitoring the security arrangements in the camps as well as the movements of the Rohingya population.
