UK Bangla Reporters Unity inaugurated in a joyful atmosphere

The UK Bangla Reporters Unity was inaugurated in the presence of journalists, experts, and community dignitaries.
The inaugural ceremony of the UK Bangla Reporters Unity 2026 was held in a festive atmosphere with seminars, scholarship distribution, UKBRU Award 2025 presentation, magazine publication, poetry recitation and musical performances in the presence of community dignitaries, MPs, deputy mayors, cultural activists, teachers and journalists
On the afternoon of Rabira (February 15), in a hall in East London, the outgoing president of the UK Bangla Reporters Unity, Editor of Jagannathpur Times, Md Shajidur Rahman, introduced the new 15-member EC committee for 2026 and inaugurated it with a group photo session.
Later, the grand ceremony began with the inauguration ceremony presided over by Muhammed Shahed Rahman, the new president of Reporters Unity, Editor: Uk Bangla Guardian, special correspondent of Bangla Mirror news and UK correspondent of Dhaka Post.
The inauguration ceremony was conducted by newly elected Secretary General, Editor of ABC Bangla News and Sub-Editor of BridgeBangla24, Abdul Basir.
In one of the sessions, Dr. Asim Chakraborty, Senior Lecturer at Angela Ruskin University, Cambridge, Uk, was present as the keynote speaker at the seminar titled “Global Risk Journalism and the Role of AI.”
Foysol Hussain Choudhury, MBE, MSP (Member of the Scottish Parliament) was the chief guest at the event and spoke.
The guests of honour were Councillor Sahanara Naser, Deputy Mayor of the London Borough of Luton Council and guests of honour
Councillor Mohammad Islam, Deputy Civic Mayor of the London Borough of Croydon Council.


At the event, the guests unveiled the cover of Abhishek magazine “Abhijatra”.
UK Bangla Reporters Unity Scholarship 2026, officially distributed scholarships to journalist students and students from journalist families in Bangladesh.
The guests presented the UKBRU Awards 2025 to two members of Reporters Unity for their outstanding contributions to journalism throughout the year 2025.
Belal Ahmed Bakul, UK correspondent of  ekattorerkotha. and continuing reporter of UK Bangla Guardian, Jagannathpur times has received the UKBRU Best Investigative Reporter of the Year 2025 Crest for the investigative reports published by members of this organization in their respective newspapers.
The UKBRU Best Feature Writing Award 2025 was received by Shah Monsur Ali Numan, a member of the organization and the UK correspondent of Sylhet Mirror.
