As healthcare systems across the world struggle with rising cancer rates, chronic diseases, and limited clinical resources, artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly redefining how medicine is practiced.
Bangladeshi researcher Denesh Das is emerging as a key contributor to this transformation through research that opens new pathways for advanced scientific and medical innovation, blending AI, medical imaging, and healthcare systems engineering. He is currently pursuing additional graduate-level studies to further strengthen his expertise in Industrial Engineering at Lamar University, USA.
Denesh Das brings a strong academic foundation to his research journey. He has completed a Master of Engineering in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Lamar University, USA, where he developed advanced expertise in intelligent systems, data analytics, and engineering optimization.
Earlier, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Southern University Bangladesh, Chattogram, laying the technical groundwork for his interdisciplinary work at the intersection of engineering, AI, and healthcare.
A central focus of his work is AI-assisted cancer diagnosis, an area of urgent global importance. In breast cancer research, his studies demonstrate how machine-learning models can accurately differentiate between benign and malignant tumors using clinical biopsy data.
These AI-based approaches have shown diagnostic performance comparable to traditional assessment methods, underscoring their potential to enable earlier detection, reduce diagnostic error, and support faster clinical decision-making—factors that directly influence patient survival.
His research has also made notable contributions to skin cancer detection, particularly melanoma, one of the deadliest cancers worldwide. By applying deep-learning techniques to dermoscopic images, his work reveals how AI can identify subtle visual patterns that may be overlooked during manual examinations. This innovation holds special significance for regions facing shortages of experienced dermatologists, enabling scalable and consistent screening solutions.
Beyond oncology, Denesh Das’s research addresses chronic and silently progressing diseases, such as liver disorders, where delayed diagnosis often leads to severe outcomes. His AI-driven predictive approaches highlight how high-risk patients can be identified earlier, opening doors to preventive care rather than late-stage treatment.
What sets his work apart is its system-level vision of healthcare innovation. Rather than focusing on isolated algorithms, he explores how AI can be integrated into smart, connected healthcare ecosystems, combining intelligent analytics with emerging technologies such as IoT and high-speed communication networks to support remote monitoring, real-time diagnosis, and efficient healthcare delivery.
Guided by industrial engineering principles of optimization, scalability, and reliability, Denesh Das’s research moves beyond theory toward real-world deployment. Collectively, his work opens new doors for next-generation medical technologies, positioning him as a rising contributor to global healthcare innovation and a proud representative of Bangladesh on the international scientific stage.
Denesh Das completed a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Southern University Bangladesh, Chattogram in 2014. He completed a Master of Engineering in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Lamar University, Texas in 2025. Currently he is studying Industrial Engineering at Lamar University, Texas, USA.
