Sylhet Titans deny outstanding dues to Nasum Ahmed

Nasum Ahmed has been at the centre of a payment controversy following his impressive Bangladesh Premier League campaign, but Sylhet Titans have firmly denied any outstanding dues.

The left-arm spinner, who claimed 18 scalps in 12 matches to finish joint second in the highest wicket-takers’ list, played a key role in guiding Sylhet to the second qualifier. However, reports of an unpaid amount of Tk35 lakh triggered confusion.

In an official statement issued on Monday, the franchise asserted that all contractual payments had been fully settled. They confirmed that Nasum, a B-category player, had already received his entire agreed remuneration of Tk35 lakh.

Addressing bonus-related claims, the franchise clarified that any additional payment discussed prior to the auction was conditional on winning the title. With the team falling short, they stated that there was no contractual obligation to pay such bonuses.

The statement further revealed that the player had requested payment in cash rather than through banking channels. It also noted that cheques issued earlier as advances had not yet been returned by the cricketer despite repeated requests.
