
Bangla Mirror desk : The discussion titled “Eid Celebrations of Bangladeshi Muslims in Britain: Past and Present” and the annual cultural program, organized by the UK Bangla Reporters Unity, were held in a joyful atmosphere.
This significant program and cultural event celebrating Eid among expatriates was held on Sunday (12 April 2026) evening at a center in East London, under the presided of Muhammed Shahed Rahman, President of UK Bangla Reporters Unity, former Principal, Uk Correspondent Dhaka post and Special Correspondent of Bangla Mirror news, in the presence of prominent figures from the community.
The program was hosted by Abdul Bashir, General Secretary of UK Bangla Reporters Unity and Sub-Editor of Bridgebangla24, Editor of ABC Bangla News.
The chief guest at the event was Mr Councillor Ahmed Mahbub, the Mayor of Haringey Council, London.

The keynote address-( article) was presented by S K M Ashraful Huda, Vice President of Reporters Unity, in a topic-based discussion.
Among others who participated in the discussion and spoke were Councilor Sirajul Islam, former Speaker Ahbab Hossain, journalist Rahmat Ali, former Speaker Khalis Ahmed, former president of UK Bangla Reporters Unity Dr. Ansar Ahmed Ullah, former president Professor Shajidur Rahman, former secretary Mizanur Rahman Miru, former secretary Jubayer Ahmed, poet Mojibul Haque Moni, cultural activist Nurul Islam, vice-president of London Bangla Press Club Ahad Chowdhury Babu, Assistant secretary Abdul Qadir Chowdhury Murad, member Shah Mostafizur Rahman Belal, human rights activists Abdul Ahad Chowdhury, Abdul Mukit, Councilor Faizur Rahman, president of Bangladesh Press Club Shakir Hossain, community activists Angur Ali & Akkas Khan.

Other speakers included photographer GR Sohel, UK Bangla Reporters Unity Senior Vice President Imdadun Khanam, Vice President Shaheda Rahman, Treasurer Mirza Abul Kashem, Media and IT Secretary Sohel Ahmed, Event Management Secretary Imran Talukder, Naz Naznin and Moon Qureshi.
In the delightful cultural program, artists A Rahman Oli, Asma Matin, Abdus Shukur, artists Jahangir Rana, Ashraful Huda, Dipa Haque, Shahdat Hossain Masum, Ruman Bakht, and Raihan Ahmed performed songs.
Poets and lyricists Shajjadur Rahman, Muhammad Saleh Ahmed, Jannatul Ferdous Doly and Shahidur Rahman recited poems in between the songs. Deepan played the guitar at the event.

Speaking as the chief guest at the event, Mayor Ahmed Mahbub said, “The celebration of Eid for Bangladeshis living in the UK is a celebration of work or the pain of not getting a vacation. On the other hand, there is a mixture of stories, chats, walks and some emotions that nurture sincerity and culture.”
Despite being away from family and friends, Eid is celebrated with Eid prayers and feasts in various cities, including London, at local mosques, community centers, and with friends. In this way, Bengali culture and Muslim traditions are being cherished.
He also said – In this diaspora, including the UK, Eid means a piece of beautiful and loving Bangladesh. And this path has been created by our predecessors, our elders. The path that we now walk in this diaspora every day.
