
The New Zealand High Commissioner to Bangladesh, David Pine, paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser, Humayun Kabir, in Dhaka on Monday.
The meeting was held on Monday at the Prime Minister’s Office.
During the courtesy call, both sides held fruitful discussions on strengthening bilateral relations between Bangladesh and New Zealand, as well as expanding cooperation in potential sectors of mutual interest.
The High Commissioner (HC) expressed New Zealand’s interest in working more closely with Bangladesh in key areas, including pharmaceuticals, tourism, higher education and food processing, a press release read.
He also praised Bangladesh’s active role in addressing the adverse impacts of global climate change and called for the country to take on a more leadership-oriented role in international climate-related platforms.
Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir noted that although Bangladesh is highly vulnerable to climate change, it has been working consistently towards sustainable development, environmental protection and the establishment of a green economy.
He added that Bangladesh is prepared to play an effective leadership role in global efforts to combat climate change.
The meeting was held in a cordial and friendly atmosphere.
