
A total of 73,182 Bangladeshi pilgrims have reached Saudi Arabia on 189 Hajj flights so far, ahead of the holy Hajj scheduled for 26 May. A total of 18 pilgrims have died so far.
The information was disclosed on Thursday (21 May) through the daily bulletin of the IT Helpdesk on the Hajj portal of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Among the deceased pilgrims, 13 were men and five were women. Of them, 13 died in Makkah and five in Madinah.
So far, 95 flights operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, 69 by Saudi Airlines, and 25 by Flynas have transported pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.
This year, a total of 78,500 pilgrims from Bangladesh are expected to perform Hajj. Of them, 73,935 will travel under private management, while 4,565 will perform Hajj under government arrangements.
On 18 April, this year’s Hajj flight operations were officially inaugurated at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by Prime Minister Tareq Rahman.
