Gold prices rise; 22-carat now Tk224,940 per bhori

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has increased the prices of gold and silver in the local market following a rise in the price of pure gold.

BAJUS announced the latest adjustment through a statement on Saturday morning with the new rates coming into effect from 10am, according to a notification signed by Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen, chairman of the Bajus Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring.

Under the revised rates, the price of 22-carat gold, the highest-quality category, has increased by Tk6,635 per bhori, setting the new price at Tk224,940.

Bajus has raised the price of 21-carat gold by Tk6,299 per bhori to Tk214,734.

The price of 18-carat gold has increased by Tk5,366 per bhori to Tk184,058, while the price of traditional-method gold has risen by Tk4,374 per bhori to Tk149,882.

Alongside gold, Bajus has also increased silver prices.

The price of 22-carat silver has risen by Tk292 per bhori to Tk5,132.

The new price of 21-carat silver stands at Tk4,899 per bhori after an increase of Tk292.

Bajus has raised the price of 18-carat silver by Tk253 per bhori to Tk4,199, while traditional-method silver now costs Tk3,149 per bhori following an increase of Tk175.
