Writer-publisher meeting held in East London

A gathering of poets, writers and publishers was held in East London in honour of Aditya Antor, the founder of Dhaka-based Ittadi Grantho Prokash, who is visiting the UK.
The friendly chat and discussion meeting was held on Monday (June 6) evening at the Darpan Media Center in East London, chaired by poet Asma Matin.
This friendly meeting was conducted by veteran journalist and poet Md. Rahmat Ali.
Guest speakers were former principal Muhammed Shahed Rahman, President of the UK Bangla Reporters Unity, and Abdul Mukit, a leader of the anti-apartheid movement in the UK, and a community activist.
Among others, Bhatir Kantho editor and poet Imdadun Khan, lyricist poet Shah Suhel Amin, Channel NRB UK editor A Rahman Oli, Bangla Sanglap newspaper reporter and BBN Dot media editor Shajjadur Rahman, poet Dilruba Yasmeen Ruhee, poet Shamsul Haque Shah Alam, poet Afia Begum Shiri and Misbah Kamal participated in the discussion.
In this friendly discussion, the authors participated in a live discussion with publisher Aditya Antor.
In this discussion, the speakers discussed the legal and commercial processes involved in publishing books by Bengali-speaking authors in the UK and the process of getting the author’s manuscript or writing printed in book form and delivered to the reader. This includes editing, cover creation, printing and marketing, and how it is facilitated by the author and the publisher. Traditional publishing and self-publishing were discussed. The issue of author royalties came up in this discussion.
After the discussion, a lively recitation evening was held. Lyricist Shah Suhel, poet Shajjadur Rahman Nayan, poet Dilruba Yasmeen Ruhee, poet Shamsul Haque Shah Alam and Muhammed Shahed Rahman recited their poems.
