Tarique-Modi talks could resolve many bilateral issues: Dinesh Trivedi

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi has said that many bilateral issues could be resolved if Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi sit down for talks.

He made the remarks while speaking to journalists at the inauguration of a children’s play area at the Indian Visa Application Centre on Sunday.

Dinesh Trivedi said, “Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is a people-friendly leader, and our prime minister is also people-friendly. If the two leaders come together, many problems will be resolved. I have full confidence in this. The people are united, and solutions will certainly be found. There is nothing negative; everything is positive.”

Highlighting the strong people-to-people ties between Bangladesh and India, he said the relationship should also be maintained at the government level.

The high commissioner said there is significant demand for Indian visas in Bangladesh and that plans are underway to increase the number of visa application centres.

At the same time, he said efforts are being made to reduce the costs for ordinary people seeking visas and increase the capacity to issue visas.

“Bangladeshi people are very friendly. Relations between the people of the two countries are good. This relationship must also be maintained at the government level,” he added.
