The district administration has chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the 44th Independence and National Day on March 26 in the district in a befitting manner.
The programmes have been planned at a meeting held on Sunday with Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Shohidul Islam in the chair.
Concerned officials, local Awami League leaders, representatives of other public and private organisations, freedom fighters, law enforcing agencies, teachers and elite were present in the meeting.
The programmes include 21 gunshots at the DC complex in the morning, hoisting of national flag atop of all public and private buildings, placing wreaths at Shaheed Minar and discussion meeting.
The programmes also include march pasts and physical displays by the police, Ansar-VDP, BNCC, Scouts, students, screening of documentary films on Liberation War, drawing competition, discussion and cultural function will be held. Special prayers will be offered at all the religious establishments seeking divine blessings for the souls of the martyred during the Liberation War.
