Journalists stage demo in Sylhet

58Journalists here yesterday staged demonstrations after assaulted a Photographer and snatched his camera on Tuesday on the court premiers when he was taking photos of an agitation program organized by the Advocates. Journalists of national and local dailies here brought out a procession, formed a human chain and observed sit-in program in Sylhet centrel Shohid Minar protesting the attack and demanded punishment to the attackers.

Tougher programs will be taken if their demands didn’t meet. Ekramul Kobir Eku, Oes Khusro, Shihab Uddin, Dulal Ahmed, Ekbal Monsur, Mamun Hasan, A.H Arif, Kowes Ahmed, A.A Rabbi, F.A Munnan, Anis Ahmed, Alomgir Ahmed, Ala Uddin Ahmed, Shahin Ahmed, Nowshad Ahmed also attended the sit-in program.

Injured Nurul Islam, Photographer of Daily Uttarpurba, a local newspaper of Sylhet, was rushed to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital at 11:30am after the incident.

Witnesses said pro-Awami League (AL) advocates brought out a procession at 11:00am on court premises protesting against the cancelation of bail prayer of Joint Secretary of district AL Advocate Mahfujur Rahman over Copmpanyganj Juba League leader Abdul Ali murder case. They assaulted Nurul Islam and snatched his camera while he was capturing the photos of their agitation.

On Tuesday, judge of the 5th Cognisance Court Kudrat-e-Khuda rejected the bail petitions again when they prayed for bail. After the court order, the journalists abstained from the court proceedings and staged demonstrations on the court premises.
