At least 18 labourers, including 11 women, were killed and 16 others injured when an overloaded pickup van rammed into a stationary truck in Rajasthan’s Pratapgarh in India on Saturday night .
The accident took place in Dholapani area of the district when the labourers were returning to their village after work, police said.
“The pickup van rammed into a stationary truck leaving 14 people, including 11 women, dead. Four persons succumbed to injuries on way to a hospital in Udaipur,” Sub Inspector Ratan Lal said.
He said that 15 injured were admitted to the hospital in Udaipur and one in Pratapgarh.
Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje announced ex-gratia of Rs. 50,000 each for the next of the kin of the deceased.
She also announced a financial assistance of Rs. 25,000 each for critically injured and Rs. 2,500 each for other injured who are not critical.
