The Saudi-led coalition fighting Shiite rebels in Yemen says the kingdom has shot down a Scud missile fired from Yemen.
The coalition said in a statement carried today by the official Saudi Press Agency said Saudi air defenses intercepted the missile as it headed toward the southwestern city of Khamis Mushait.
The statement says the missile was completed destroyed without causing “any losses” on the ground.
Khamis Mushait is home to a major Saudi air base and has been targeted by missiles fired from Yemen previously.
Saudi Arabia leads a coalition conducting air strikes and ground operations in support of Yemen’s internationally recognized government against the rebels and loyalists of a former president who control the capital and other parts of the country.
