Two die as mini truck overturns in Jaintiapur

Jaintiapur Upazila Correspondent : Two people were killed and 7 other were injured after a mini truck carrying them overturned after losing control on Sylhet-Tamabil Road in Jaintiapur upazila of Sylhet on Wednesday morning.

The deceased were Jahangir, 30, and Moyamin, 28, both were the residents of Itapara area under Keraniganj upazila of Dhaka.

The injured — Md Ripon, 22; Rubel Alam, 28; Jahangir Alam, 25; Mintu, 25; and Md. Hossein, 27 — are also from the same upazila. Identities of the other injured could not be confirmed immediately.

Md Tajul Islam, officer-in-charge of Jaintiapur police station, said that some people from Keraniganj came to the Hazrat Shahjalal Mazar to offer prayers.

The accident occurred around 9:30am when the truck carrying them overturned after losing control on the road while on its way to Jaflong from Sylhet, leaving the two dead and several injured, he said.

The injured were taken to Jaintiapur Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital, the OC added.
