Former law commission chair Justice Abdur Rashid dies

Former High Court judge and Bangladesh Law Commission chairman Md Abdur Rashid died on Tuesday morning.

Appellate Division registrar Mohammad Saifur Rahman said that justice Rashid died at United Hospital in Dhaka at about 8:30am.

The government appointed Rashid as the chairman of the Commission for three years on April 21, 2009 after he retired as High Court judge.

Justice Mohammad Rashid was admitted to the Hospital after he felt sick on Monday night.

He will be buried at the Azimpur graveyard after jumma prayer on Friday (October 27).

His body will be kept at the mortuary at the United Hospital Limited until his daughter returns to Bangladesh from the United States.

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Anisul Huq has expressed deep condolence at the death of Justice Rashid.

Justice Rashid is survived by his wife, and a daughter.
