Ex-Railways minister Nurul Islam remanded again in murder case

Former Railways minister Nurul Islam Sujan has been placed on fresh five-day remand in Jatrabari murder case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saddam Hossain passed the remand order on Sunday.

Earlier, investigation officer (IO) Mriganko Shekhar Talukder pleaded for 10-day remand after producing the former minister before a Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court from jail.

On the other hand, the defense lawyer submitted an bail application. After hearing, the magistrate passed this order.

On September 16, Nurul Islam Sujan was arrested from Bangladesh Specialized Hospital at Shyamoli in the capital.

During the recent Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, Awami League and police forces opened indiscriminate fire on the mass people and the students on August 5 that led to the death of Imran Hasan.

On September 1, the victim’s mother Kohinoor Akhter filed a murder case naming 298 people, including Sujan.
