SI killed being hit by bus in Dhaka’s Shahjahanpur

A sub-inspector (SI) of police was killed after his motorcycle being hit by a bus, belonging to Balaka Paribahan, on the slope of the Khilgaon flyover in the capital’s Shahjahanpur area on Monday night.

Deceased Kamrul Islam, 37, was the sub-inspector of Motijheel Police Station.

He was rescued and taken to Islami Bank Central Hospital in Kakrail where the on-duty doctor declared him dead around 9:30PM, Shahjahanpur Police Station OC Jahangir Hossain confirmed.

The body of Kamrul has been kept at Mugda Medical College Hospital. The bus has been seized and its driver Jahangir Ahmed Tipu has been arrested. Legal proceedings are underway, OC Jahangir added.

According to the OC, Kamrul Islam was on his way to his workplace Motijheel Police Station by a motorcycle around 8:30PM. When he reached the road opposite to Khalil’s Meat Shop in Khilgaon, a Balaka Paribahan bus hit his motorcycle. He then fell onto the ground.

Locals rushed him to the hospital in critical condition, but he succumbed to his injuries around 9:30PM.
