One more burn victim dies, death toll hits to 35

The death toll from the jet crash on Milestone School and College premises in the capital’s Uttara area rose to 35 with the death of an office assistant of the school whose 90 per cent body parts were burnt in the crash incident.

Masuma, 38, an ayah (support staff) of the school, breathed her last at the ICU of National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (NIBPS) at about 10:15AM.

Residential Surgeon of the institute Dr Shawon Bin Rahman confirmed the death news of Masuma.

Earlier at about 9:10AM, a 13-year-old student Zarif farhan succumbed to his burn injuries at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the same hospital.

Both Zarif and Masuma had been admitted to theNIBPS in critical condition.

With the latest deaths, 17 victims have died at the NIBPS, one at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), 15 at Combined Military Hospital (CMH), and one at Shaheed Monsur Ali Medical College Hospital.

Currently, 38 burn victims of the crash are undergoing treatment at the burn institute. Among them, three are in critical condition and are being treated in the ICU of the facility.
